Every year we prepare the largest cohort of successful grammar school entrants in Halifax and Huddersfield. Here is what makes the difference.

Specialist, experienced teachers

All tutors are qualified teachers. Our founder was Head of Maths at both Halifax grammar schools.

📝

Resources built for the Halifax 11+ exam - written by our team of in-house specialist teachers.

Our materials are designed specifically for the Crossley Heath and North Halifax entrance exams - not generic 11+ packs.

👥

Small groups, individual attention

Classes follow a high school model with three focused 40-minute sessions covering Maths, English/creative writing and vocabulary.

💻

Online homework platform

Learning does not stop after the class. Our online platform keeps students practising and parents informed of progress.

Supportive, encouraging environment

Children enjoy their sessions. Parents tell us consistently that their children look forward to coming each week.

📈

Honest feedback at every stage

We assess students in November, March and June. We provide detailed analysis from the test results and are always available to discuss progress.

We will be in touch with full details once you have registered.

Mock tests and additional workshops

Nothing prepares a student better than practising in the real exam hall. Our full venue mock test gives students the chance to experience the layout, the atmosphere and the timings exactly as they will on exam day. The impact is huge. A hall full of focused students is a sight to see. And the best part? It’s included in our fees, while most other tutors charge extra for this level of preparation.

We also run targeted workshops across the year covering creative writing, exam technique, problem solving, confidence building, and booster sessions linked to mock test performance. Every student is different, and our workshops adapt to reflect it. Parents are notified as workshops become available.

What 11 plus tuition does for your child

Preparation for the 11 plus builds skills that go well beyond the exam itself.

1

Enhanced academic skills

Structured preparation strengthens core competencies in English, mathematics, and Creative writing. Children improve their understanding of key subjects, leading to better performance across school, not just in the 11 plus exam.

2

Improved study habits and confidence

Regular sessions and consistent practice build effective study habits and time management. As children see their progress, their confidence grows. Many parents tell us their child arrives at secondary school ahead of their peers in organisation and approach.

3

Advanced problem-solving abilities

The 11 plus is designed to test thinking, not just recall. Children learn to approach problems methodically and creatively. These skills carry into every subject and every exam they sit in the years ahead.

4

Creativity, resilience and perseverance

Preparing for a challenging exam teaches children that effort and practice lead to improvement. They develop a growth mindset and the determination to work through difficulty. These qualities serve them well throughout school and beyond.

5

Preparation for future exams

Early exposure to exam conditions and technique reduces anxiety around future testing. Children become familiar with timing, format, and how to manage pressure. GCSEs and A-levels feel far less daunting as a result.

"I really think the way you and the team run the tuition is amazing! Very well organised, you have always been accessible and good communication throughout. Zainab has really enjoyed the tuition and we have found it really helpful with school work as well. The online homework keeps her engaged and has been useful for us as parents to see how she is doing."
